Latitude festival organiser Melvin Benn has said he was left “distraught” after hearing that two women had allegedly been raped at the festival.
The two incidents, which are not though to be related, took place on Thursday night (July 15) and Friday (16).
A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the second incident, which involved a 17-year-old girl.
Benn told the Metro that he had “significant sympathy for the victim” and was “so shocked that it should happen here”.
"People are obviously entitled to be nervous,” he added. “But these things, as awful as they are, are outside anyone's control.”
Police have launched a full investigation into both incidents and are also studying CCTV footage.
