The nominations for this year's Mercury Prize are due to be announced in London later today (July 20).
The shortlist of twelve albums, which have been selected by music industry representatives, will be unveiled by broadcaster Lauren Laverne.
Albums by The xx, Steve Mason and Wild Beasts have all been tipped to receive a nomination.
Two Door Cinema Club, Mumford & Sons, Marina & The Diamonds and Plan B are also thought to be in contention for the prize.
In order to be eligible to receive a nomination, the album must have been released over the past 12 months.
The 2009 Mercury Prize was won by Speech Debelle's 'Speech Therapy'.
Previous recipients include Elbow, Arctic Monkeys, Suede and Dizzee Rascal.
