Arcade Fire played a live YouTube webcast from Madison Square Garden in New York last night (August 5).

The Montreal-based band thrilled fans with songs from their new album 'The Suburbs', as well as classic tracks.

The show, directed by Monty Python star Terry Gilliam, was broadcast live on the internet as part of YouTube's new Unstaged series.

Viewers were able to switch camera angles and select a song for the band to play during the encore.

The gig was the second of two gigs at the venue after the band also played there on Wednesday (August 3).

'The Suburbs' was released on Monday (August 2) and is on course to top the UK album chart on this weekend.
