A man has died after being hit by a car near the site of last weekend’s Bestival festival on the Isle of Wight.
The accident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 12) on Mersley Down Road.
Two pedestrians, one man and a woman - both believed to have been festival-goers - were hit by a vehicle and taken to St Mary's Hospital in Newport.
The man was pronounced dead in hospital.
A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, reports the Press Association.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight police spokesman said: "Police are in the process of informing next-of-kin.
"The woman remains in hospital where she is receiving further medical attention for injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening at this time."
A Bestival spokesperson said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family affected. We are assisting the police with their investigation."
The event, at Robin Hill Country Park, was headlined by Dizzee Rascal, Roxy Music and The Prodigy.
