October 4 2010 – Sting performed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in Manchester on Monday.

The former Police frontman thrilled fans at the Apollo with a live performance of recent album 'Symphonicities', which reinterprets some of his songs as classical symphonic compositions.

Tracks in his nearly two-hour set included 'Roxanne', 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' and 'Englishmen In New York'.

Sting's UK tour continues tonight (October 5) with a hometown show at The Sage in Gateshead. Other dates are scheduled for Dublin and Edinburgh.

  • Wasn't expecting big set, lighting or video rig & there wasn't one. I was hoping for a sonic treat & to feel the power of the orchestra. Big disappointment. Sound was thin, weak & quiet with harsh mid highs in Vox. Strings were lost. I was in stalls in Edinburgh Playhouse under the circle in direct sight of the ground stacked line array but not the ceiling array. Used my imagination to fill in the missing sound. Events of this status should be better. £140 for 2 tkts?
