Kanye West has criticised the recent winners of the Grammy Album Of The Year Award.
The recipients include Taylor Swift, whose acceptance speech West infamously interrupted at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in 2009.
The country singer won the Album Of The Year award earlier this year for her 2008 album 'Fearless', which has sold more than 6 million copies.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, West said the Grammy album award’s recent winners were not representative.
“Where’s our instant replay clock?” West said. Why are the last four Albums of the Year: Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, Ray Charles and Herbie Hancock?
“Like, you know, with all due respect… that’s inaccurate.”
West then listed albums that he believed should have won the award, including releases by Justin Timberlake, Usher and Gnarls Barkley.
He added that it was the Grammys “responsiblity ” to reward the albums that performed best comercially in order to “say what really happened in culture this year because we’re marking it down”.
West was widely criticised when he interrupted Swift’s acceptance at the VMAs, although he later apologised. The singer also wrote a song about the incident.
His comments come ahead of the release of his new album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
