Jay-Z has hinted that he may run to become US president but said people would have to wait for at least another two terms.
The 40-year-old rapper made the revelation during a discussion about current president Barack Obama’s term in office, which has been dealt a blow in the midterm elections.
"Give me a chance," he told BBC Newsbeat. "Maybe in eight years, I'll be the president."
Jay-Z, who was an ardent supporter of Obama’s presidential bid, said the current president still needed time, and that it was inevitable he would experience “peaks and valleys”.
"In order to judge someone, you have to judge what they inherit,” the rapper said. "He inherited the worst economy, war, just a horrible time in American history.
"So if we think he can solve that, I mean, we don't think he's God, do we. He's a human being. He's going to need time to figure that out.”
Jay-Z is currently promoting his new memoirs, Decoded. The rapper is also in the UK to work on his new joint album with Kanye West.
