Kanye West has praised Coldplay and said the band have the potential to be better than The Beatles.
West made the comment during a discussion about the differences between American and British music.
The rapper said that while the US generated commercially successful acts, it was the UK who always created that “very special band”.
"We have had amazing bands like Nirvana and Guns N' Roses ut it's the British who have had the cream with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones setting the standard,” he told The Sun.
“I love Coldplay, and I honestly think they are on the same level as The Beatles. In 30 years, when Coldplay are old men, people will look back and say, 'These guys were more talented than The Beatles'.”
West went on to described Coldplay's Chris Martin as a “genius” and said he was “on the same level as John Lennon”.
He also revealed that he would like to record an album with the group.
West is due to release his new solo album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' on November 22.
Meanwhile, Coldplay are set to play two gigs in aid of the homeless charity Crisis next month.

- Haha such a great original comment from fab4. The guys allowed his opinion, if that's what he thinks then so be it. Comparing coldplay to the beatles is crazy talk, the beatles are miles ahead, I do however think that coldplay get an unduly hard time and will be appreciated much more once they have gone e.g abba
- The Beatles were good in their day. However, C*ldplay are without a doubt, THE dullest band ever to stodge up the airwaves! I cannot hear Chris Martin's shrill whine but I want to kill him, or myself, out of sheer, undiluted depression. Coldplay albums should carry the following health warning: "Listening to this album will seriously reduce your interest in and joy of life."
The sooner they stop making any more tediously dire records the happier I will be.
