Aretha Franklin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, according to reports.
The soul singer has undergone a 'highly successful' surgery after cancelling her recent tour.
"God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses who were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country,'' Franklin said in a statement
Last month, the singer axed all gigs for the next six months under the orders of her doctors, but said she was "anxious" to get back on the road.
Franklin’s cancelled gigs include a planned Christmas gig in Detroit.
