Lady Gaga's arrival at the Grammy Awards inside a womb-like egg has created a mixed reaction from fellow music stars and fans.

The singer was transported along the red carpet in the structure, before emerging from inside egg to perform new single 'Born This Way' during the ceremony in Los Angeles.

In a message on Twitter, a member of Lady Gaga's Haus of Gaga had explained that the singer was “in incubation”.

Kelly Osbourne, who was on the red carpet, teased details about Lady Gaga's arrival, telling her followers that they would “not believe their eyes” when they saw TV footage.

But fans were left divided on YouTube, where videos of the star's Grammy performance have been posted.

On fan Annridl said it would be “bloody epic”, while others continued to draw comparisons between Lady Gaga and Madonna.

“She's tired and tries toohard,” MarkRTrost said.

Bluefaery05 added: “I can really, really see Madonna in this... BUT I think she's more talented than Madonna, Gaga can actually sing.”
