Lady Gaga has revealed that she was in New York when the 9/11 terrorist attacks unfolded.
Appearing on US radio, Lady Gaga said she was studying at Sacred Heart and that her family struggled to locate her mother after the planes struck the World Trade Centre.
“I’ve never really spoken about this before, but I was in New York on September 11 and I watched the towers fall with all my girlfriends from the roof of our school,” she told Hot 99.5.
“And the whole city was covered in ashes.”
She added: “I remember my dad picked me up and we couldn’t reach my mum for ten hours because my mother worked right across the street from the World Trade Centre.”
Lady Gaga also called the recent death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was “very intense” and "meant a lot to the people of New York".
