Coldplay Fans Divided Over New Single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall'

Coldplay fans have been left divided by the band’s new single, which received its radio debut at lunchtime today (June 3).

The track, entitled ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, is thought to be from the band’s forthcoming new album.

Many fans have been contacting Gigwise via Facebook and Twitter - and the general consensus is mixed.

On Twitter, Cloudburst88 said: “It sounds pretty average on first listen but I think it's gonna be a grower like 'Violet Hill' was.”

Andrew Clarence described it as a “stadium anthem”, which is “very reminiscent of the ‘X&Y’ days. Coldplay has gone back to layered tiny guitars, rolling drums”.

He also noted the dance influences - which were also highlighted in Gigwise’s review of the single.

SevenSongs said: “Song sounds good, but there's nothing especial in it. Worse than 'Christmas Lights'. Waiting for the whole album."

But AGoodPanda and NicoleTheBear were not convinced, with the former describing the song as “absolute cr*p”.

‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ is available to download from midday tomorrow (June 4) in the UK.
