Bjork: New Album 'Biophilia' Is 'Folk Music Of Our Time'

Bjork has unveiled further details about her upcoming seventh studio album and musical project 'Biophilia'.

Speaking to The Guardian, Bjork explained of the album's new direction: "I would rather call it folk music - folk music of our time," she explained. "I was never too much into Warhol and the whole pop thing - it felt a bit superficial. I prefer folk. People. Humans."

The Icelandic singer performed 'Biophilia' for the first time at the Manchester International Festival on Friday (July 1), as well as confirming that the album will comprise of 10 iPad apps to complement the tracks.

"My main aim is to not get too bored myself," she continued. "I feel that if I'm curious and excited there is a bigger chance the listener might be.

"At the end of the day, it's more about the feeling of an adventure rather than the details of the adventure itself. So in short: whatever turns you on."

Bjork has now been confirmed as the final headliner at Bestival on September 11. For more information about Bestival and all this year's summer festivals, check out the Gigwise Festival Guide.

'Biophilia' will be released on September 26.
