Linkin Park has unveiled their own way of raising money for the Japan relief fund by organising an "intimate" show where fans have to donate money to attend.
The band's entire proceeds will go towards the Japan relief effort, which aims to aid the restoration of the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami that struck the country five months ago.
Linkin Park's latest initiative, taking place on money raising website Give2gether.com, is a fan contest where the first 500 people to raise $500 (£312.75) or more will win a pair of tickets to a secret Los Angeles show that will be held on August 31.
The band are keeping details of the show under wraps, but have revealed that it will take place in an intimate venue in the Los Angeles area. Mike Shinoda claims on a video clip promoting the competition on their website that the venue is "so small it would fit inside my hands."
It has also been unveiled that support will come from Japanese pop group B'z.
All proceeds from Linkin Park's nonprofit Music for Relief initiative will go to Save the Children's Japan earthquake and tsunami relief effort. Entrants who do not reach the $500 target will not get tickets to the show, but they will receive a thank-you note from Music for Relief to acknowledge their participation.
Give2gether’s site currently has 1,155 supporters who have raised $47,635 (£29,786) between them, with one fan donating $7,000 (£4,377) to the relief effort.
