Fans Slam 'Doomed To Fail' Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

Fans of Michael Jackson have urged a planned tribute concert to be cancelled.

In a letter to the promoters of Michael Forever, the late singer's supporters said the gig at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on October 8 was “doomed to fail”.

The concert, organised by Global Events Live with the support of certain members of Jackson's family, promises performances from Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

But Jackson's brothers Jermaine and Randy have questioned the timing of the concert at the same time as Dr Conrad Murray is due to stand trial for manslaughter over the singer's death.

Organisers also booked KISS to perform at the event, before later dropping the band over controversial comments band member Gene Simmons had previously said about Jackson's private life.

In their letter, Fans Against Michael Forever Tribute wrote: "From the timing of this tribute, in the middle of Dr Murray's trial, to the ticketing prices, to the obscurity over what charities will be receiving the donation, to the no-guarantee policy of performers, the addition of Gene Simmons and dishonouring, thus tarnishing, Michael Jackson's legacy was simply the last straw."

Other acts due to perform at the gig include Leona Lewis and Craig David, while Beyone is set to perform via satellite link.
