Tony Bennett To Lead Tribute To Amy Winehouse At MTV Video Music Awards 2011

Tony Bennett will pay tribute to Amy Winehouse at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, it has been confirmed.

The singer will lead to tribute to the late Winehouse at the ceremony along with behind-the-scenes shots of the pair working on their duet 'Body and Soul' shown after.

It is also thought that Lady Gaga and Adele will join Bennett on stage for the tribute. The ceremony is set to take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28.

In a statement, Bennett said: ''It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse, and when you listen to the recording of 'Body and Soul', it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known.''

Amy's father Mitch also expressed his gratitude for the tribute, adding: "Our family is honoured that the VMAs are giving Amy this wonderful tribute. We know that Amy's performance of 'Rehab' at the MTV Movie Awards played an important part in Amy's worldwide success."

'Body And Soul' also features on on Bennett's new album 'Duets Il', which is released next month.

'Duets II' also includes vocal contributions from Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Michael Buble.
