Plan B 'Angers Record Label' Over New Album 'The Ballad Of Belmarsh'

Plan B has angered his record label after pushing back the release of his new album 'The Ballad Of Belmarsh'.

The rapper was expected to reveal the album this year, but has apparently delayed recording sessions to focus on his new movie 'Ill Manors'.

Plan B – real name Ben Drew's – decision has apparently upset Atlantic Records, who are hoping for a strong follow-up to 2009's 'The Defamation Of Strickland Banks'.

“I don't see the record label’s point of view at all,” Drew told the Daily Star.

“So long as the record is good enough, people will pay attention. I've had to remind them that nobody was interested when 'Strickland Banks' first came out. No-one thought it'd be as big a hit as it became, but it did so because it was good enough to get people's interest.”

Drew went on to add that it has become “impractical” trying to work on both projects at the same time.

“It can't get finished just to suit Atlantic's release schedule,” he added. “I'll finish it when I can do it properly, when it'll be strong enough that I'm proud of it.”

Drew is also set to appear in a movie version of The Sweeney alongside Ray Winstone.
