Coldplay's Chris Martin: I Feel Like The World F*cking Hates Us

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed that the band's new album Mylo Xyloto was inspired by the global recession.

In an interview with Spin magazine, the singer said that the band felt angry with the people who caused the financial crisis.

"The recession had something to do with it. And the feeling of being mad at the people who did sub-prime mortgages and got everyone in such a heap of trouble," said Martin.

"Some people misconstrue our band just to be a commercial venture. They question the soulfulness of Coldplay because we've done okay."

The singer added that he believes that the band are hated by the wider public : "Maybe it's because I'm English.

"But in terms of how people perceive us I only pick up on the negative side of it. I always feel like the big bad outside world just f*cking hates us."
