Coldplay's Chris Martin: People Are 'Jealous' Of My Friendship With Jay-Z

Coldplay's Chris Martin has stated that hip-hop giant Jay-Z is one of his best friends, and that they have more in common than you first might expect.

Regarding their friendship, the singer told Pitchfork of his repect for the rapper:

"I love his music, and he's a super cool guy, and he's genuine."

Martin confirmed that the feelings were mutual.

"We have the same feelings about trying to be true in your art."

But the 'Paradise' songwriter admits that he understands why people would be sceptical of their relationship.

"It just happens that one of us is a nerd and the other is the coolest multi-entrepreneur on the planet"

Adding: "I think more people wonder why he's friends with me... they're like, 'How are you friends with Jay-Z?' It's almost like they're jealous."

The Coldplay frontman also revealed that they play sports together in their spare time.

"We do play touch football. He's very good at American football - not only does he have all these other talents, but he can throw a perfect spiral."
