Katy Perry's Friendship With Gym Class Heroes Ex Blamed For Divorce

Katy Perry's close friendship with former boyfriend Travie McCoy is said to have become one of the reasons behind the breakdown of her marriage.

The singer, who dated McCoy before meeting Brand in 2009, is said to have made her husband jealous over the relationship with her ex. 

They'd often speak at strange times of the night because they travel a lot," a source told Heat.

Adding: "It's fair to say that she opened up to him about how hard her marriage had come. Travie never really 'got' Russell or their marriage."

Perry who reportedly wanted Brand to file for the divorce is said to currently be writing new material inspired around the split.

The pair began dating shortly after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009, which the comedian hosted.
