Lana Del Rey has thanked fans for taking her debut 'Born To Die' to number one, despite bad reviews.

The singer, who released her debut on Monday (January 30), was hit with a number of harsh reviews.

In its review, Rolling Stone magazine describes Del Rey as 'just another aspiring singer who wasn't ready to make an album yet. Given her chic image, it's surprising how dull, dreary and pop-starved Born to Die is.'

Responding, Lana wrote to fans over Twitter: 'Thank you for making the record #1 in 11 countries,'

She went on to tell her followers: 'Your sweet words have softened the effect of even the harshest reviews. I adore you.'

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey, was reportedly ambushed on the Canal Plus program Grand Journal.

When questioned over the similarities between her single 'Video Games' and Greek singers Eleni Vitali's song 'Drompoi Pou Agapisa' the American rising star stormed off stage and refused to answer any questions. While the backing music of the track is completely different, it is the sound of the vocals that has sparked rumours of a copy.
