Large scale shows set to take place this summer in Hyde Park will go ahead as planned, it has been announced.
As previously reported, a number of residents complained about the high noise levels which comes from regular shows at the park in the summer.
Later this year Rihanna and Drake will headline the Wireless Festival from July 6-8, while Madonna will play the large show at the park on July 11 and Bruce Springsteen on July 14.
A report issued in The London Evening Standard showed that last summer 109 complaints about the noise were made, which was double the number from 2010.
Westminster Council's licensing sub-committee met yesterday (February 17) and reached a unanimous decision over plans for the park and concerts in the future.
The number of shows held in Hyde Park will be reduced from 13 to 9, however, this will not take place until 2013. Next year the number of concert attendees will also be reduced from 80,000 to 65,000-50,000.
"Legally, as central London's licensing authority, we have a duty to balance the needs of local residents with the desire of concert organisers to hold events and the compromise that the committee has reached tonight does all of this," said Cllr Audrey Lewis, Westminster Council's Licensing Chairman.
