Lily Allen has joined a number of musicians in slamming the BRIT Awards decision to cut off Adele during her acceptance speech.
The Someone Like You singer flipped the middle finger live on air after host James Corden ran onstage and interrupted her speech due to time constraints.
Allen posted on Twitter: “I'd rather hear adeles acceptance speech. I can't say I'm surprised. It was like the music industry's attitude to women played out as a metaphor.”
While, Professor Green tweeted: Can't say I agreed with the cutting off of Adele
ITV have now released a statement: "The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the programme was over running and we had to move on. We would like to apologise to Adele for the interruption."
A spokesman for the BRIT Awards also added: We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running. We don't want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night's biggest award. It tops off what's been an incredible year for her.
The singer's second album '21' beat off competition from the likes of PJ Harvey, Ed Sheeran, Florence And The Machine and Coldplay.
