Recently reformed Britpop icons Blur are set to reveal a new track at their headline slot at this summer's Olympic Closing Celebration Concert in London.
Bassist Alex James made the announcement during an appearance on Top Gear, telling host Jeremy Clarkson of the band's plans to perform the new, as-yet-untitled track at their Hyde Park show.
"We've got a new song to unveil, I just listened to it this morning," said James, adding the new track sounded: "like a hymn, a real tear-jerker".
The band, who won the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the 2012 BRIT Awards, recently performed new track 'Under The Westway' during a pre-BRITs gig for charity War Child. The track was their first new material since 2010 limited release, 'Fool's Day'.
Blur have yet to confirm any future releases, but producer William Orbit recently told Twitter followers that he was working with the band on new material.
Blur are set to perform the Hyde Park gig on August 12 alongside fellow industry icons, The Specials and New Order.
