Eurythmics star Annie Lennox has called for Rihanna to speak out on doemstic violence, claiming her voice would be 'so powerful'.
Rihanna was the victim of a very public assault in 2009 from then-boyfriend Chris Brown, and Lennox claims Rihanna's position in pop would make for the perfect spokesperson against violence in relationships.
"Here is a young woman who has been through domestic violence and she could become a tremendous spokesperson for that issue but the choice is hers. It's not up to anybody else to do that," Lennox said, speaking to The Telegraph.
"Of course if she did choose to do that it would be so powerful but it's her personal right to choose it or not. We all have our issues and we have to deal with them in our own way."
Rihanna recently angered fans by teaming up with Chris Brown for a remix of her track, 'Birthday Cake'. Brown was issued a restraining order in 2009 ordering he stay 50 yards away from Rihanna at all times.
