Mumford & Sons step down from 'doom-folk' rumours

Mumford & Sons lead singer Marcus Mumford has admitted that he does not know when the band's new album will be released.

The 'Sigh No More' band are currently hard at work on their second album but do not have a deadline to work to, something Marcus says is helpful for the creative process.

"We don't want to put that added pressure on ourselves," he told NME. "Everyone's just letting us get on with it. The only people that have heard it are Markus Dravs (producer), our manager and us. No-one else has been involved in the process – so it means that we might have completely f*cked it up.

Meanwhile, Marcus also denied rumours that the band would step into a heavier direction, something that had previously been described by bassist Ted Dwayne, as 'doom-folk'.

"That was a joke to an American journalist who didn't understand the concept of sarcasm. I called Ted and was like, 'Ted, what have you done? We spent our whole first album trying to avoid being pigeonholed!"

Marcus, who is engaged to Hollywood actress Carey Mulligan, promised an 'evolution, not revolution' in sound for Mumford & Sons.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that the band bonded with Samantha Cameron during a recent trip to the White House alongside her and husband PM David Cameron.
