Lana Del Rey's 'Video Games' was nearly dropped as a single, the songs producer has claimed.
Justin Parker, who today picked up an Ivor Novello nomination for his role in the huge hit single, told Digital Spy that record label bosses worried that the song was too different to the majority of mainstream music to get played on the radio.
"They liked the track but they didn't think radio stations would play it." he said.
Adding: "Thankfully it worked out in the end, and hopefully they will be more songs like it being played in the future. The charts are a bit of a racket at the moment."
Meanwhile, referring to Del Rey's musical skills, Parker was full of praise for his colleague: "She's a brilliant songwriter - I hardly wrote any of the song. She just needs a musician to work with, which is the case for most artists."
