Long time gay rights advocate Lady Gaga has spoken of her support for Barack Obama's recent statement supporting gay marriage in America.
The singer has publicly thanked the US president after her declared his personal feelings on gay marriage and support for the practice. He claimed today (10 May, 2012) that gay marriage should be allowed to happen in America.
"Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting President to support marriage equality!" Gaga Tweeted from Tokyo, where she is currently performing on her 'Born This Way' ball. "Feels like the future, and not the past. #NoFear."
In a statement on Good Morning America, Barack Obama revealed his feelings, saying: "At a certain point I've concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married." His statement has met with approval from gay rights movements the world over.
