Ed Sheeran 'emotional' following Ivor Novello win

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he got emotional whilst accepting his Ivor Novello Award yesterday.

Sheeran's song 'The A Team' was given the prize for best song musically and lyrically, putting him in amongst other winners at the ceremony including Adele, PJ Harvey and Take That.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat about his win, Sheeran admitted that it was the recognition he has always wanted. "It's voted for by your peers, it's the highest kind of award you can get for songwriting - a big honour," he said. Adding: "I actually got a bit emotional accepting the award. It was good."

Sheeran also took time to state that his recent US tour cancellation had nothing to do with him entering rehab, as incorrectly rumoured by some sources.

"I'm lucky enough to have the best job in the world. I travel the world and make people happy by playing music. There's no chance of burning out whilst doing that. It's a brilliant job.
