Ed Sheeran 'emotional' after scoring No.1 US album

Ed Sheeran's bid to crack the US market seems to have been a success, with his album '+' rocketing to No.1 on US iTunes as soon as it was released.

Sheeran's album hit the online store today (12 June, 2012) and jumped to the top spot. Sheeran took to Twitter to express his surprise at his US chart success - and reveal how he planned to celebrate his US chart topper.

"Oh my word!! My album is -#1 on USA iTunes!,!,!! so happy right now," said Sheeran to his fans. "And Canada!,!,!, Getting emotional right now, gonna eat some nachos."

It was earlier revealed that Sheeran was planning to work for nine months straight in order to break into the stateside music scene, but he may be able to afford himself a little time off now, having beaten Usher's new album 'Looking 4 Myself' in the first-day race for the No.1 spot.
