Christina Aguilera has joined forces with one of the artists she mentored on the US version of The Voice Chris Mann, on his debut album to cover Damien Rice’s ‘The Blower’s Daughter’. Listen to the track below.
Mann was part of ‘Team Christina’ on the singing show, with Aguilera telling him “I feel the heavens open up when you sing” after his first audition. Chris Mann is a classical crossover artist who finished fourth in the show and his debut album ‘Roads’ is set to feature a number of covers songs.
Speaking about the Damien Rice number, Aguilera says “It's a beautiful song and I really respect the way he’s expressing himself on the album. Everything from his tone, to his richness, to his soulfulness comes through loud and clear.”
The song is sure to upset some Damien Rice fans though; an early preview of the song has already been met with criticism.
