More about: Franz FerdinandYeah Yeah YeahsBlurDamon Albarn
The charity track from Blur’s Damon Albarn, Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner, made in aid of the Oxfam Syria Appeal, is now available to stream online.
The three musicians also recruited Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea for the song, titled ‘Latest Style’, recorded for Fresh Touch - a musical and cultural exchange launched by XL Records boss Richard Russell and producer Rodiadh McDonald.
The project is one of ten exclusive vinyl releases which can only be bought at today’s Independent Label Market, held in Spitafields Old Market. The market is a regular event held by Britain’s independent record labels to sell music straight to fans.
All proceeds from the ten releases go to Oxfam’s Syria Crisis Appeal. Other artists contributing tracks include Beth Orton, Django Django and Editors.
There will be 50 copies of each exclusive track available. Each 12” will be hand numbers and feature an etching on the B-side. They will each be sold for £10 and are limited to one per customer.
'Latest Style' can only be bought on vinyl today
Earlier this year Albarn revealed that he is currently working on a solo album alongside Richard Russell, but has also hinted that a new Blur album isn’t out of the question.
The Fresh Touch track is streaming online on the Guardian’s website here.
