More about: Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos has suffered a serious allergic reaction, thought to be caused by peanuts in a rice dish, backstage at a festival in Hungary.
The Glaswegian-based band were due to be performing at Sziget Festival in Budapest, when frontman Alex suffered the reaction shortly before going onstage. The 41-year-old was apparently unconscious for an hour after consuming only a tiny amount of the offending foodstuff.
Friend and fellow musician Ryan Jarman (The Cribs) broke the news to fans during his set, asking them to rally their support for Alex while he was "on his death bed backstage following a peanut incident."
Regardless of the drama, Kapranos and his bandmates trooped onstage at their allotted time and performed a lively set for the crowd which included 'Dark of the Matinee'. and recent single 'Right Action', taken from their album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action.
Kapranos tweeted yesterday:
Thanks for everyone's concern. All fine. Needles in the left buttock and spewing, but all good. Don't use the lefty so much anyway.

He then followed it up with:
And thanks to everyone at #SzigetFestival. Went on stage feeling ill. Came of feeling amazing. Great festival!
