Last week, O'Connor made headlines when she penned an open letter to Miley Cyrus, discouraging her attention-seeking actions and warning her of being 'prostituted' by the music industry. Cyrus however, took to Twitter to lash out at the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' star and mocked her past troubles with mental illness.
Meanwhile, former Dresden Dolls singer turned solo star Amanda Palmer wrote to O'Connor in defence of Cyrus, arguing that she is “writing the plot and signing the checks” in an attempt to “write her own script.”
On the night she wrote the letter, Palmer took her message to a charity gig for 'Girls Rock Dallas' in the US. Introducing her 'mash-up' covers of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and 'Wrecking Ball', Palmer told the audience: "What I wish to convey with this song is a peace-brokering between Sinead, who's awesome, and Miley, who's awesome - may they see their similarities instead of their differences."
She added: "If anyone wants to take the audio from this song and make a teeny little video of them running towards each other in a field, each with a single tear - that's my request."

In her epic and eloquent letter to O'Connor, Palmer said: “Let’s give our young women the right weapons to fight with as they charge naked into battle, instead of ordering them to get back in the house and put some goddamn clothes on.”
