More about:

Arctic Monkeys have been announced as headliners of next year's Optimus Alive Festival in Portugal. Full dates and ticket details are below.

The Sheffied rockers are the first announcement for event in Lisbon, Portugal - with the band headlining the main stage on Thursday 10th July 2014. Tickets are on sale now.

More announcements are expected in the coming weeks, and with last summer's Optimus headlined by the likes of Biffy Clyro, Kings Of Leon and Green Day - we should expect some pretty huge names to be revealed.

Optimus Alive 2014 will take place at Passeio Marítimo de Algés in Lisbon Portugal, from Thursday 10 - Sunday 13 July, 2014. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.

Below: Everything we know about festival season 2014

  • Stanton Warriors: The hard-edged dance heroes are the first to self-confirm for Glastonbury next year. Although they DJ all over the world, the West Country boys will only have to pop down the road to Worthy Farm for this one.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers: The long-serving Californians have been snapped up by Lollapalooza Argentina and, fittingly, Chile.

  • Avenged Sevenfold: The band were the first confirmed headliners for Download 2014. The band are no doubt over the moon. Several metal fans were less enthusiastic, with the booking splitting opinion when it was announced.

  • Arcade Fire: The Canadians have already been confirmed at Primavera Barcelona in May as well as Lollapalooza Argentina and Chile. More are sure to follow in a huge 2014 for the band.

  • The Chemical Brothers: They are heading up the Snowbombing Festival in Austria in April. If you want to get a crowd going at midnight, there's simply no one better.

  • Chvrches: The hotly tipped newcomers travel to Australia for the Laneway Festival in February. A long trip, but the line-up is taking shape nicely and it's not a bad place to visit is it?

  • Linkin Park: Nu-metal survivors are back at Download this year. It seems to be their spiritual home, and the band playing classic album Hybrid Theory is surely not to be missed.

  • Rudimental: Joining The Chemical Brothers in the Austrian Alps in April are huge drum 'n' bass act Rudimental. They join a stellar dance line-up at Snowbombing.

  • Neutral Milk Hotel: 90s alternative icons make their way to Primavera Barcelona in May. It's a match made in Heaven. Indie tourists from all over Europe will welcome them with open arms.

  • Rob Zombie: Robert Cummings brings his industrial rock circus to Download in 2014. Another who may as well get a time share in Donington, the news was met with an overwhelmingly positive response.

  • Nine Inch Nails: Trent Reznor and co are heading to South America for the Lollapalooza Argentina and Chile festivals. The event has raced ahead of its European and North American rivals with its massive confirmed acts so far.

  • Prodigy: They'll have their work cut out starting a fire on the snowy Austrian slopes as they were announced as the final headliners for Snowbombing. Clearly saving the best for last.

  • Savages: If you like your pasty post-punk heroines slighty sunburned, head to Melbourne in February where Savages join Chvrches on the Laneway bill.

  • Fall Out Boy: The final band confirmed for Download so far are the ever entertaining Fall Out Boy. Let's hope they don't fall out with the famously volatile Leicestershire crowd.
