Lady Sovereign has launched a huge campaign to save the hoodie from the bans imposed in some shopping precincts and the media scaremongering.

The chav rapper’s forthcoming single is called ‘Hoodie’ and she’s even gone to the length of launching the website savethehoodie.com.

Fans on the website are invited to send in pictures of themselves with their favourite hoodies and are invited to sign an online petition which Lady Soverign herself will hand to the powers that be.

Sovereign said: “If someone commits a crime it’s not about what they are wearing, it’s about the person wearing it. A criminal is a criminal no matter what they wear.

“Don’t blame the innocent hoodie, you should be able to wear what you want.”

‘Hoodie’ is released on November 21 and comes complete with mixes by Basement Jaxx and Mizz Beats.
