Gary Lightbody has confirmed plans to release the next Snow Patrol album in 2015.

Speaking to Gigwise at the Bushmills Festival, taking place this week on Ireland's North Coast, Lightbody is performing alongside former REM star Michael Buck in their collaborative project Tired Pony - alongside Luke Sital Singh, James Vincent McMorrow and The 1975.

Speaking to Gigwise at the whiskey-fuelled event, Lightbody told us: "There won't be a Snow Patrol record this year, it will be next year."

He also added that he was "gutted" that the new record hadn't been finished in time to mark Snow Patrol's 20 year anniversary. The band were formed in 1994.

Snow Patrol have experimented with more electronic sounds since their 'Run' and 'Chasing Cars' success in the mid-00s, and most recently impressed with new song, 'I Won't Let You Go', from the movie Divergent. Listen to the track below.
