David Byrne and Alicia Keys are teaming up to perform for the Black Ball fundraiser for Keep a Child Alive in New York.
The show, which will also feature rapper Angel Haze, will take place on 30 October at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. It is the 11th year of the event, which aims to bring together first time collaborations on stage. Keys is a co-founder of the charity, with past events hosting the likes of Jay Z, David Bowie, Bono and Chris Martin, to mention a few.
"I’ve always been inspired by David Byrne and his ability to combine music and art," Keys share with Billboard. "[We] have been talking about his new music and what we’re going to perform and just the thought of it is amazing!"

“Many many years ago my friend Leigh Blake, co-founder of Keep a Child Alive, approached me about being part of a charity record called Red Hot & Blue,” said Byrne. “It was a great experience, and it had the side effect of opening my ears to the music of Cole Porter! So, when she approached me about participating in this year’s Black Ball, Keep a Child Alive's annual fundraiser hosted by Alicia Keys, I immediately said yes. I'm flattered and excited.”
David Byrne recently launched his musical Here Lies Love in London at the National Theatre.
