Foo Fighters have been announced as odds-on favourite to headline Glastonbury next summer by William Hill.

The band became favourites after Mick Fleetwood announced this morning that Fleetwood Mac would not be headlining the festival. He told Chris Evans: "One of the things that I would like to clear up: we're not playing Glastonbury. And a lot of folks think that we are. So loud and clear...we love Glastonbury and all the surrounding history of such a lovely festival. But we're not playing it."

Comments by Dave Grohl this week haven't done the band's chances any harm either. Asked by NME, Grohl said "I mean, it's an iconic festival...I just tell everyone if they need a band, we're pretty good. They should give us a call. See what happens." Emily Eavis then described the Foo's appearance at Worthy Farm as "overdue".

The band are now placing firm favourites at 4/6, Fleetwood Mac are still second though at 6/4, followed by AC/DC at 6/1, Muse at 10/1 and Taylor Swift at 12/1.

Jon Ivan-Duke of William Hill said: "There's a real gamble on for Foo Fighters to play at Glastonbury, but at this stage it looks like a combination of hopeful fans and those following the rumour-mill. Perhaps given the weight of money we've seen, there may be some truth in the rumours."
