Billie Joe Armstrong is set to star in the film, Geezer. The Green Day frontman will also be contributing to the film's score.
The film is about the eponymous geezer who is suffering in the throes of a mid-life crisis. To shake things up, on his 40th birthday he throws a lavish party and who should show up but his old bandmates and ex-girlfriend to remind him of his glorious youth.
Revealing details to Variety, director, Lee Kirk, said: "Billie Joe Armstrong brings an exciting authenticity to the film. He's a dad, he's a musician and he's an incredible talent."
The film is just beginning production and will co-star Judy Greer, Fred Armisen and Selma Blair.

Armstrong's has previously acted in performance of the Broadway adaptation of American Idiot as well as having a brief cameo in This Is 40.
