Liam Gallagher has been fined over £3000 after missing a child support hearing in New York City, with the former Oasis frontman reportedly suffering from anxiety and depression.

The New York Post reports that Gallagher failed to turn up to the hearing on Monday morning (12 January), much to Justice Laura Drager's dismay, who then lumped him with the hefty fine.

Gallagher's attorney Raoul Felder tried to defend him by presenting a doctors note detailing that the singer was suffering from anxiety and depression, however the judge didn't believe this was a good enough excuse, describing the evidence as 'insufficient'.

Proof of whether he is actually suffering is being debated by some publications, with The New York Post also reporting that Gallagher was spotted walking down the street hand in hand with his new girlfriend over the weekend (days before the hearing was set to take place).

Gallagher himself is yet to comment on the hearing, or the fine.
