Wayne Coyne has revealed further details about how the bizarre collaboration of Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips may soon come to fruition with a joint world tour.
In an interview with Billboard this week, Wayne Coyne discussed his band's plans for their continued work with the provocative pop star in the studio. "I almost think it might be the series of songs that are Miley Cyrus songs, Flaming Lips songs on her record, then there’s the series of the same songs on our record. Ours sound like the Flaming Lips and hers sound like Miley Cyrus, but they’re the same songs."
And whilst he admits that Miley fans might not be overly excited by The Flaming Lips appearing onstage, and vice versa, there is the possibility of a joint tour in the pipeline.
"I think with the Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus that really is two different versions of hell combining. But a real Flaming Lips fan loves Miley because she's fucking crazy. And there's a part of Miley's fan base that love us because we don't give a fuck and we're freaks too."
He said in the interview that the idea of a tour is more than just hypothetical, saying, "We talk about it a lot, we just keep moving in this direction."
They're even already discussing their plans for staging, which sound (as you might expect) completely and utterly bizarre.
"So we've talked about that there'd be these giant 20-foot tall heads that we would be inside of. I'd be inside of her head with a thing over it singing from inside her brain and she would be inside of my giant head singing from inside our brains. At some point we would come down and shoot out of each other's mouths and be there on stage."

The Flaming Lips, sadly without Miley, are set to headline this year's Victorious Festival alongside Tinie Tempah and Basement Jaxx. The festival takes place on 29-30 August in Portsmouth.
