Arctic Monkeys have been named the world's best live band at the O2 Silver Clef Awards - beating off stiff competition from the likes of Arcade Fire, Royal Blood and even legends like Prince and Kate Bush. While many may argue this until they're blue in the face, there's no denying the Yorkshire lads' incredible ascent from the rubble of Sheffield to the Ritz of Reading festival.

No other band of their generation has enjoyed such a dizzying success story - and each chapter of that has been landmarked by a gig of incredible significance.

To celebrate their live prowess (and eagerly await their return), these are the 17 most important gigs of Arctic Monkeys' career so far.
