19 July, 2015: Warpaint's heady and swirling jams on record transform into walls of reverberation that cast shadows over audiences when showcased live. Out of their usual habitat of darkened rooms and claustrophobic ceiling structures, the sunny fields of Latitude hosted their beautifully noisy set this weekend. Sandwiched between Seasick Steve and Manic Street Preachers on the bill, Warpaint were most likely performing to a crowd of mixed tastes, but are equally not a band that makes compromises. The dark mixture of harmony and dissonance on their second, self-titled album hits harder than the sweeter, mesmeric tracks off The Fool giving a push and pull to the whole performance.
