"There's an old man sitting next to me," sings Billy Joel in the timeless classic 'Piano Man', "making love to his tiny cat Jim." At least, that's what it sounds like he's singing.

As it turns out, with this and many other classic songs, we've been singing it wrong all these years. The real lyric is, sadly, much less bizarre. Other things we've had to learn the hard way - Taylor Swift isn't obsessed with Starbucks, Elton John wasn't in love with Tony Danza and Bob Dylan isn't friends with ants.

Here are 10 misheard lyrics you won't be able to unhear.

  • Elton John - Tiny Dancer : (Actual lyric - Hold me closer tiny dancer)

  • Billy Joel - 'Piano Man' : Actual lyric - "There's an old man sitting next to me / Making love to his tonic and gin"

  • Jimi Hendrix - 'Purple Sky' : Actual lyric - "Excuse me while I kiss the sky"

  • Taylor Swift - 'Blank Space: (Actual lyric - "Got a long list of ex-lovers")

  • Bob Dylan - 'Blowing In The Wind' :(Actual lyric - "The answer my friend is blowing in the wind")

  • Kiss - 'I Wanna Rock N Roll All Night' :(Actual lyric - "I want to rock and roll all night, and party every day")

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival - 'Bad Moon Rising' : (Actual lyric - "There's a bad moon on the rise")

  • Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - 'Empire State Of Mind' :(Actual lyric - "New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of")
