The comebacks nobody asked for

Those difficult second albums seem to only exist in the realms of the questionable world of pop-punk. It's not really a surprise that pop punk bands excel at the first hurdle, but fall at the second. The good ones, at least, make such a great first album that the idea of a second never really comes to mind.

So when that album comes, it always does however long the wait, bands often go their separate ways. But with every genre, a rebirth is happening in 2016, the ability to write whiny narcissistic songs about your ex seems to have been passed down from one generation to another, so now seems to be the time for bands to cash in on those debut albums.

Some bands are still going, others have been on hiatus, whilst some of them have been forgotten about entirely. Here are 9 pop punk bands making the comebacks nobody asked for.

  • Alkaline Trio: The band have mentioned that a new album is on the horizon. But with one of the members joining Blink 182 as a replacement for Tom Delonge, who knows how much truth is actually in that.

  • Taking Back Sunday: These were cute without the E... Until they released that awful album earlier this year.

  • All Time Low: Weirdly, this band have fallen out of the mainstream, yet still seem to be able to sell out arenas. Dear Maria, count me out.

  • Busted: Look, the thing is, the Busted reunion simply would have been better if they hadn't done an album and just out and out cashed in. They have single-handedly ruined the childhood of many of the UK's men and women.

  • Blink 182: Blink tried to grow up, but Blink found it hard because a) one of the members left so they got a faux Tom Delonge in, and, 2) they used to write songs about erections.

  • Sum 41: Whilst the new album is said to be their best yet, you have to wonder... Is it REALLY, their best album yet?

  • Good Charlotte: Girls like cars and money, and it would appear that Good Charlotte do too. Why else would they make a comeback?

  • The Offspring: Remember these? God they're like a dad band now. Imagine Elbow but with an even more annoying frontman, christ.

  • You Me At Six: To be fair, you can't say these are not successful. But so are One Direction. Are they good? No. You Me At Six have broken America, and it seems as though they broke the UK, but their time away has put the UK back together again.
