5. Due to Richards’ escalating drug problem and the often regular absence of Jagger and Watts, recording sessions were sporadic. Many songs were laid down with the band members apart from each other. Richards, for example, recorded ‘Happy’ during an unplanned session with producer Jimmy Miller. In an interview in 1982, he recalled how he created the song’s famous riff, while Miller played the drums.
