Marilyn Manson has recently told of his fears of  a second jail term. He hasn't committed a crime, he just didn't like it much the first time around. And that would be the point.

But Manson's two-day jail spell is insignificant to the crimes committed by other musicians, with stars finding themselves involved in drugs, perjury, firearms and even murder cases. Manson was jailed for rubbing his willy on a man's head, so we don't think he'll go down in history for his misdemeanour.

Check out our collection of jailed musicians below, see where Marilyn Manson lands in the grand scheme of criminal behaviour, and see which men and women of music have spent time behind bars...

  • Jim Morrison - 1969: The Doors frontman spent a grand total of zero nights in jail after exposing himself on stage during a performance. He was sentenced to six months hard labour, but was free on appeal. He died before the case was resolved and received a posthumous pardon in 2010.

  • Mick Jagger - 1967: Rock and roll? Not really. Jagger spent a night in jail after being arrested for the possesion of four over-the-counter pep pills, after his harsh three month sentence was resolved on appeal. Spent the night in the comforts of Brixton Prison.

  • Keith Richards - 1967: See Mick Jagger. Same crime, same time. Spent one night in jail - although separate from Jagger, Richards spent a night in Wormwood Scrubs.

  • Johnny Cash - various: Despite releasing the most famous jailbird record of all time ('Live At Folsom Prison'), Cash never spent more than one night behind bars despite numerous arrests. His least rock and roll jailing? He once spent a night locked up after an arrest for trespassing on private property in order to pick flowers.

  • Marilyn Manson - 2001: The shock rocker spent two nights in jail after a show in Michigan got out of control. Manson was said to have stimulated masturbating himself on stage before rubbing his crotch on a security guard's head.

  • Paul McCartney - 1980: Rumoured to be a long-time fan of marijuana, Macca was arrested in Japaen with eight ounces of weed, spent nine days in jail and was deported from the country. This caused all sorts of havoc with his Wings tour schedule...

  • Vince Neil (Motley Crue) - 1984: Neil was sentenced to 30 days in jail for his involvement in a 'vehicular homicide'. He spent only 15 days in jail, but with an additional 200 hours of community service. He was also forced to pay over two million dollars compensation to the victim's family.

  • Axl Rose - various: The Guns N' Roses frontman was arrested numerous times during his youth for offenses including public intoxication and battery. The longest he spent behind bars was three months.

  • Boy George -2009: Boy George spent four months in jail for the false imprisonment of a male escort - and threatening the poor chap with whips and sex toys.

  • Pete Doherty - 2011 (and various): Doherty has enjoyed numerous jail stints (including one term for setting Carl Barat's flat on fire) but was sentenced to sic months behind bars in 2011 after being filmed taking crack cocaine by documentary-maker Robyn Whitehead. She died a day later due to heroin poisoning.

  • Lil Wayne - 2010: Leaving the charts mercifully free from his indecipherable rapping, Lil' Wayne served eight months in 2010 for possession of a weapon and marijuana.

  • Lil' Kim - 2005: After previous brushes with the law, the US rapper spent 10 months behind bars in 2001 after being convicted of 'conspiracy and perjury' after lying to a judge about a shooting involving her Junior MAFIA bandmates.

  • Phil Spector - 2009: Legendary producer Phil Spector is currently spending a 19-years-to-life sentence in California for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. Sorry to end this on a downer. No funnies here.
