Smashing Pumpkins are set to release a new album later in 2013, and what better way to gear up for a new record than with a festival performance? Last night, Billy Corgan and the current line-up of the band (Jeff Schroeder, Mike Byrne and Nicole Fiorentino) took to the stage at the Sunfest Music and Arts festival in Palm Beach, Florida.
Corgan confirmed work had begun on the new Smashing Pumpkins album in March 2013, telling fans on Twitter: "Excited to announce today's our 1st official day of writing for new SP album. Wish us luck!"
The Smashing Pumpkins star has been teasing new material for months, as he also spoke to Billboard in September 2012 about a follow-up.
Corgan told them that he'd "already started writing songs for a new album" and said it "definitely seems like it's going to be more of a rockin' affair."
