Nine Black Alps, everybody's favourite Nirvana tribute act, are releasing an EP of live and rare tracks. Second album coming on a bit slower than expected boys? 'Glitter Gulch' starts with 'Over The Ocean', a B-Side to the bands stupendous first single 'Cosmopolitan'. It's a raucous, free wheeling blast of grungy rock that would have fitted in perfectly to 2005's ' Everybody Is'. 'Llana Song' continues in a similar vein leaving Gigwise wondering, what exactly is the point of this EP?
Despite the EP's ferocious start it focuses more on the gentler and more serene side to Nine Black Alps that was hinted at on their debut album. 'String Me Along and 'Attraction' show that the band have more than one dimension. Giving them precisely two. It is not that Nine Black Alps are a bad band, or that this is a bad collection of songs. It just seems that 'Glitter Gulch' is a pretty pointless exercise and a waste time.
